Free Marketing Methods to Drive Traffic to Your Website

By Mike Heesen

If you are an online marketer I strongly recommend you begin utilising the free marketing methods to drive traffic to your website. The free methods are a great alternative to the paid marketing methods. I absolutely love the free methods because they are very effective and residual. What do I mean by residual? It means that, once implemented and posted, they remain on the internet for as long as the internet is in existence! Unlike the paid methods, which are only visible on the internet for the duration you are paying for. Let me share with you some of the free marketing methods that you can use to drive traffic to your website.

Article Writing

Find some hot keywords or long tail keyword phrases that are related to your business and write an article about it. The article does not have to be all that long. Keep it short, about 400 words is sufficient. Write the article in such manner that it triggers the reader to want to find out more about your business. I personally post all my articles to ezinearticles as this website is by far the most popular and loved by Google.

Video Production

Another one of the great free marketing methods to drive traffic to your website is video production. It is pretty much the same as article writing but then with images and sound. Find some hot keywords or phrases and make a video about it. You could either opt for recording yourself talking about a particular business related subject, or you could put together a nice 'n short slideshow presentation. If you are a MAC user you can use iMovie (pre-installed). For the PC users out there you could use MovieMaker (pre-installed). Once you have your video ready you can post it to YouTube or other video sites.

Blogging

I personally love blogging. It's easy and effective. You can put together a blog in less than 10 minutes. Go to a blog site such as Blogger, get an account and create a blog about your business or business related topics. Using free marketing methods to drive traffic to your website is only effective if you use related keywords and or phrases.

Social Media Marketing

This free marketing method can also be extremely powerful to drive traffic to your website. Get yourself an account with some of the social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Squidoo, Bebo, Hi5, etc. Create a profile page and include some info about yourself, your interests, hobbies and include a link back to your own website. Keep in mind though that you are engaging into Social Media and not Business Media. Refrain from throwing your business into peoples faces as they won't appreciate it. Post interesting things that are business related, or post things related to your hobbies and interests. The key here is to find like minded folks with common interests. By doing so, people will contact you, asking about what business it is you are engaged in. Provided you are utilising the free marketing methods to drive traffic to your website in a professional manner, people will come to you. So instead of being the hunter, you are the one that is hunted. The above methods are very useful provided you have conducted proper keyword research and analysis.
